The project
For a residence stepping down to Lake Iseo, a little-used corner of the garden has become the family's favorite destination. An AP-220 pergola with motorized zip screens encloses a 5×8 meter lounge that stays usable from the first warm days of spring until deep into autumn.
Reflections that dissolve the volume
The structure was powder-coated in olive green so it disappears against the foliage, while two walls of mirrored glass multiply the view of the water. From the terrace the pergola seems to float; from the lake it is almost invisible.

Comfort in every season
Sliding tempered-glass panels close the remaining sides when the evening cools down, and the zip screens drop at the touch of a remote to cut the low sun. Weather sensors retract everything automatically when the wind picks up over the lake — the owners simply live outside and let the system do the rest.
