Dining above the vineyards of Lavaux

The project

A family home high above Lake Geneva sits inside the UNESCO-listed terraced vineyards of Lavaux. The brief was precise: a sheltered terrace that would not compete with the view, strong enough for mountain weather, and discreet enough for a protected landscape.

Retractable blades, reversible shade

The AP-330's heavy-duty louvers retract fully into the frame, leaving the sky open over breakfast, then swing back at an angle for shade without losing the lake. On rainy afternoons the closed roof turns the terrace into a glasshouse dining room among the vines.

Built for the climate

Snow loads, sudden storms and driving wind are normal here, so the pergola was engineered with reinforced posts and a powder-coated aluminum frame that shrugs off the weather. Vertical side screens drop automatically when the wind rises, keeping the terrace calm while the storm runs over the lake.
