The project
On the Friulian hills, a newly built home faces west across open countryside — beautiful at golden hour, merciless at two in the afternoon. The solution pairs a louvered AP-330 pergola over the terrace with cable-guided vertical awnings along its open sides.
Two systems, one climate
The louvers manage what comes from above: high summer sun is cut to a glow, while spring light is welcomed in full. The vertical awnings manage what comes from the side, stopping the low western sun and the hill wind without stealing the panorama.
The result
From May to September the terrace is the most used room of the house. Everything runs from one remote — louvers, screens and lighting — and the whole setup retracts safely before a storm rolls in over the hills.
